The 16 countries most likely to qualify from their groups for the final stages of the UEFA EURO 2012™ tournament have been revealed today by UEFA EURO 2012™ sponsor Castrol.
Castrol’s analysis shows Netherlands, Germany, England and Spain at the top of the list of 51* competing nations as the most likely to make it past the qualification stage, with Russia, Italy and France just outside the favourites, and with work to do to qualify for UEFA EURO 2012™.
Castrol has applied the same expertise they apply to the development of their oils to create the qualification chances, using objective analysis and highly advanced technology to offer fans a unique insight into what it will take for their team to be successful and reach UEFA EURO 2012™.
Castrol’s team of Performance Analysts who also developed the Castrol Rankings and Castrol Index, have measured past team and player performance to work out the attack and defence ratings of each nation. Then, by simulating the qualifying tournament more than 50,000 times and taking into account the draw groupings, Castrol has calculated each team’s chances of progression through the UEFA EURO 2012™ qualifiers to show which countries are most likely to secure a place at the all important Final stages alongside hosts, Poland and Ukraine.
Castrol Ambassador and Spanish football legend Emilio Butragueño says: “I always look forward to the draw for the UEFA EURO 2012™ tournament to see which old rivalries it may throw up. This year, thanks to Castrol, fans can get a more accurate forecast of how the competition will pan out and how their home country will get on. I’m personally very pleased to see that Castrol expect Spain to make the Final stages again. I look forward to watching this happen!”
* Excluding Poland and Ukraine who automatically qualify as hosts
